Kolkata Test: India tightens Bangladesh's grip

In the second and final Test match at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, Bangladesh scored 152 runs for six wickets till the end of the second day's play.


Earlier, India declared their first innings by scoring 347 runs for nine wickets. Based on the first innings, India had a lead of 241 runs.

Ishant Sharma took four wickets for India, while Umesh Yadav took two wickets.

Bangladesh has scored 106 runs in the first innings. Bangladesh are behind India by 89 runs till the end of the second day's play.

From Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim is on the ground scoring 59 runs.

Earlier, India's captain Virat Kohli scored a century. With this, Captain Kohli has now become the first Indian player to score a century with pink ball. Kohli played an innings of 136 runs off 194 balls.

With this, he equaled Australia's Ricky Ponting's record of scoring 41 international centuries as captain.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane also scored half-centuries for India. While Pujara scored an innings of 55 runs, Rahane scored 51 runs.

Earlier, when Kohli completed his 32 runs in the Kolkata Test against Bangladesh, he became the fastest player to score 5000 runs as a captain.

Not only this, he also became the first captain of India to do so.

Kohli is the sixth captain after Clive Lloyd of the West Indies, Ellen Border and Ricky Ponting of Australia, Stephen Fleming of New Zealand and Grahame Smith of South Africa.

31-year-old Virat Kohli has achieved this feat by playing the lowest innings. He only completed 5000 runs as captain in 86 innings of 53 Tests.
